The Amp. Submitted by Luke Goff-The Flamin' Heart Band
The story starts while playing a gig down in Louisiana. Halfway through the night, I was really getting into this lead I was playing, and had forgotten how short a cord I was using. I had a bad cord earlier in the night and had replaced it with the only other one I had, which was about 3 feet long, just long enough to stand there in front of my amp. As a matter-of-fact, I had to put the amp on a chair.

Well, as fate would have it, the first time I got excited and stepped forward for my solo, I pulled the whole stack down on top of me. The worst part wasn't the heavy amp so much as the loud crash of reverb in my ear. You see, with older amps, there's a spring in the amp that the signal goes through to produce reverb and when that spring gets a physical jolt, it sounds like thunder. I thought I was dead. I was a little deaf for a while afterwards.

The Sunburn (submitted by Luke Goff-The Flamin' Heart Band)
Ever seen what happens when a 20 year, motel tan musician decides to tan nude?
Well, the result was a song called "The Red Ass Blues".

The Sailor (Submitted by Luke Goff-The Flamin' Heart Band)
There was this time that I was playing down in Houston, Texas and a drunk sailor came up to me and asked me to dance. I had long hair and he was sitting behind me, so I don't really blame him but you should have seen the look on his face when I turned around! He apologized all over the place and went back to his table forlorn and embarrassed. He maybe should have taken a little more time to find out what I looked like before asking me to dance! A lot of men get into trouble that way.

The "Blues" bar. Submitted by Luke Goff-The Flamin' Heart Band
One time our agent sent us up to Iron Mountain Michigan to play a club up there. It was in the dead of winter and it was all we could do just to get there. Well, we finally found the club, and parked the trailer, ready to set up. There was a slight problem when we opened the door, and could only see smiled in the darkness of the bar, after having been in the bright sun and snow. I thought it looked a little unusual, but proceeded to the bar to find the manager. Soon after, my eyesight finally started adjusting to the dim light and realized there wasn't a single white person in the place. It tends to make you a little intimidated, but true to form, I just asked if I was in the right place but recieved "not to warm" a welcome. Seems the agent had booked us there by mistake. It was an all black bar, and all the locals knew it wasn't safe to be visited by white people, or at least not if you weren't a guest. Well, they chased us out, but we finally got it fixed by our agent. If you've ever been in a chicago black bar in the 1970's, you'd know just what I mean! We were lucky to get out with our lives. They started circling us and only the bartender saved our ass by telling everyone we were there by mistake and to "chill". It was a rough neighborhood and thanks to a reasonable bartender, we got out safe.
